What is a reject?

What is a reject?

All our linen is used and washed and comes from a commercial laundry, a high - volume producer of washed items. Due to the automation required in laundry it is inevitable that some items will get through the quality control process. Because of the nature of the industry that we are in, as well as our linen being processed in a pool linen system, you may occasionally find certain items that are not of acceptable standard to you and your team. These are called rejects.

The following are the factors that will help you and your team identify what is acceptable and what is unacceptable/a reject.

Towels and Bath mats:
      • Should be free from marks, stains or holes that are clearly visible at first glance.
      • Towels should not be held up to the window or light to be checked.
      • Towels should not have too many creases or a crushed pile.
      • Towels must not be musty or carry an unpleasant odor.

Bed Sheets:
      • Should be free from clearly visible stains or holes. Any hole smaller than a 10p coin, which can be tucked in making it invisible to guests,is                               acceptable and not deemed a ‘reject’.
      • Sheets with not too many crease folds are acceptable and are not classed as ‘rejects’.
      • 2 marks smaller than a 10p coin in the bottom 3rd of the sheet is acceptable and not a ‘reject’.
      • Sheets must not be musty or carry an unpleasant odor.

Duvet Covers:
      • Should be neatly finished and free from any clearly visible marks.
      • Duvet covers should be free from excessive creasing, but folds are acceptable.
      • A duvet cover with Darns and marks in the bottom 3rd of the duvet cover is classed as a ‘reject’ if bigger than a 10p coin. Anything smaller is                         acceptable.
      • Duvet covers must not be musty or carry an unpleasant odor.

Pillowcases:
      • Should be neatly finished, up to three small visible marks are acceptable if on one side of the pillowcase only.
      • Pillowcase should be free from excessive creasing, but folds are acceptable.
      • Small marks are acceptable on one side of the pillowcase.
      • Pillowcase must not be musty or carry an unpleasant odor.

Some Examples:

When identifying a reject item DO NOT:

• Do not hold linen up to the light to look for unacceptable marks. If it is not visible when looked at normally, it is acceptable and not a reject.
• Do not reject an item because it has a thread “Slug”, (a fine fiber of darker thread caught up in the weave). This is not dirt and is part of the items                  manufacture, therefore not a reject.
• Do not reject a pillowcase if it is inside out.
• Do not reject a sheet if it has a small hole, up to 20mm within 30cm of the edge, as this is tucked under the mattress and will not be visible to guests.
• Do not reject a towel over a loose thread. The towels are 100% cotton looped. Please snip off the loose thread.

What to do if you have a reject?

• Any qualifying rejects must be brought to the Airlinen Ops Team attention within 2 hours of delivery via Whatsapp with a clear picture of the reject accompanied with product type, size (if applicable) and location (Property ID).
• Airlinen will send the next available driver to replace that (individual) item or will replace it on our next delivery to that location.
• Please return the reject item upon delivery of the replacement and ensure it is separate from any dirty linen so that we can remove this from the pool stock.
• Please ensure all linen is kept in a dry place and is not stored damp/wet as this will cause the items to mold.

Should you have any questions please feel free to email our sales team at sales@airlinen.co.uk
